The momentum has really shifted in a positive direction
for us now. We went to Beaver Run in PA this weekend. A
track that I hadn't been to since I started doing trackdays
5 years ago. It was going to be fun to see how much I had
improved in all these years. I remembered doing a 1:08 lap
time there 5 years ago. I kept hearing that a 1:01 was a
fast lap time there so I was curious to see where I would
be. I was racing some pretty fast North East guys that I
had never raced before. There were also 4 Brand New Ducati
1098's on the grid so I was hoping to show them that my
old 97 916/ 02 998 could still do the trick.

On Saturday morning I went out for my first practice and I
felt pretty good. The track was as I remembered and I did
a 1:06. Second practice I got into it a little more did a
high 1:02. I signed up for the Heavyweight Solo later that
day so I could get more practice. I started in the middle
of a 15 rider field. I got a pretty good start and as I
was getting faster and faster, I started catching guys that
I wasn't expecting to. I ended up finishing 6th in this
21 lap race with a best time of 1:01.84.

Sunday I was hoping to go faster after putting on a fresh
set of tires. I saw that several of the guys I was going to
be competing against had done 1:01's in practice that morning
so I knew I would need to further improve. Race 1 was
Heavyweight Twins Superbike. I started on the front row and
got a great launch. I lead going into Turn 1. I came
around finishing lap 1 when my dad gave me the signal that
I had someone on my tail. I pushed hard and at the end of
the 2nd lap, the red flag came out. David Podolsky who was
behind me had high-sided himself coming out of Turn 6.
Incidentally, Vincent Lorrusso had taken over 2nd place and
low-sided behind me in the carousel right before the red flag
came out. On the restart, I got the hole shot again and led
the remaining laps beating Scott Rosey by only 7 seconds. I
managed to improve my lap times to a 1:00.8. It was a good
thing too because everyone else had stepped up as well.

Race 2 was Heavyweight Twins SuperStock. I started on the
front row again. I led the first couple of laps but my dad
kept signaling that someone was right on my tail. Sure
enough, it was Scott Rosey. He came up outside of me on the
brakes going into Turn 1. We both let off the brakes to see
who would give in and he began to turn in on me. I let him
take the position and began following him around. I could
see where he was quicker than me and I realized where I had
to be a little stronger. This was his home track so he knew
it very well. After about 2 laps, I was able to pass him in
the same place he passed me. My dad kept signaling that my
lead was very small so I kept pushing. I held him off and
won the race. It was very fun. I even got this one on video.
Check out the gallery section of the site. I even improved my
lap time to a 1:00.57. I felt pretty good about that since
the fastest lap of the weekend was a :59.1.

This gives me great momentum going into the final round at
Summit Point on 9/30/07.

I want to once again thank all the people that make racing
possible for me...
