Where do I begin?  I can't begin to explain how slippery this track was.  I have never felt such a lack of grip before.  I feel like I learned a tremendous amount of throttle control.  My back tire would break loose at every single corner exit.  I could not put the power down.  Nor could anyone else The guys in front of me would be sliding all over the place as well. For the first time I think I left some serious rubber down on the track.  I got so used to sliding the bike around that it was becoming second nature.  Don't get me wrong.  I did have a couple of 'feet off the pegs, staring at the front fender' kind of moments. I recommend this track to anyone who wants to learn the art of wheelspin! The Suzuki was definitely the worst of the two bikes since it still has the stock rear suspension.  The Ducati's suspension was much more sorted out.   None the less, we had a great weekend.  I participated in 6 races.  I received the following:

  • 2 - 1st places
  • 2 - 2nd places
  • 1 - 3rd place
  • 1 - 5th place

I normally don't finish up front in the Saturday 16 lap solo races but this time I managed to pre-register before the event.  I started in the second row for the Middleweight Solo.  I had an okay start and was in 6th position after a couple of turns.  I pressed on and started picking them off one by one.  I managed to finish in Second place with 3rd and 4th breathing down my neck. I was lapping the the 1:44's.   It was a dog fight until the end.

The Heavyweight Solo I had do do on my 600 since my Ducati was having issues with the head gasket.  I did just fine without it.  I was in 3rd for 15 of the 16 laps.  The guy leading was on a R1 so I didn't expect to catch him.  I was right behind second place the entire race but I just could not get close enough to make a pass.  I was very happy when I came to find out that this guy was a very fast 600 racer.  We were lapping consistently in the 1:43's and I even pulled out a 1:42.60 in one lap.

Sunday I raced in both 750 Superbike and Superstock and came in 2nd and 5th.  My best result yet in those classes.  I'm hoping those guys start making me a faster rider.

The Heavyweight Twins SuperStock and Superbike races were a bit un-easy.  I found out a couple days before going to the track that water was actually contaminating my oil.  I didn't have time to machine the heads and change the head gasket so I figured I would just change the oil on the bike between every practice and race.  I did this but I still worried that the bike might blow up on me at some point.  She didn't!  She carried me to 2 victories.  Now she will get the proper attention before she is put to work again.

I've got a really good lead in the championship and I almost have it locked down especially since my buddy who is in second place crashed and wasn't able to race.  Next race will be on the Shenandoah circuit at Summit Point, WV.

I want to welcome our newest sponsors Tom Choppin, Tiola Pavers, and Engead.
